Spreading Joy Through Art: Skyler’s Kiddo Kindness Card Project

At True Balance Karate, part of our Black Belt journey includes giving back to the community through a meaningful service project. One of our students, Skyler, took this challenge to heart in the most thoughtful and creative way—with a project called the Kiddo Kindness Card Program.

The Kiddo Kindness Card Program is all about brightening the day of children in hospitals. These are kids who may be feeling sad, lonely, or sick—and a handmade card can be a small but powerful gesture to lift their spirits. For her project, Skyler created 40 unique cards, totaling 10 hours of service. Each card included an uplifting message and adorable artwork featuring cartoon characters, often drawn hugging or doing something cheerful.

Skyler chose this project because she wanted to combine her artistic talent with an act of kindness. “I’m really good at drawing,” she said, “and I wanted to do something kind and simple at the same time.” Her attention to detail and heartwarming illustrations made each card a special gift.

About the Charity

Skyler partnered with Cards for Hospitalized Kids, a national nonprofit organization that delivers handmade cards to children in hospitals across the country. The organization’s mission is to spread hope, joy, and magic to hospitalized kids through uplifting, handmade cards. It’s a simple act with a profound impact—and a perfect fit for Skyler’s creative heart. If you’d like to learn more or get involved, visit cardsforhospitalizedkids.com.
